                                       ﻰChapter Two: The Necklace  ﻰ

She woke up the next morning feeling depress for her dreamless sleep and still tired for the awakening she followed her usual routine to get ready for school.
She went down to the stairs to find her mom doing breakfast (as always) hearing lividly to her young sister, who telling her the crazy dream she had had the night before, and her baby-brother siting  on a special chair for babies.
Her sister shut up immediately when she came into the room. Emily knew that her sister didn't want to make her feel bad about her lack of dreams, but it only make her feel worse.

'Hold your brother' her mom said.  Emily did and instantly Bryan started crying. Her dad came in and took him from her.

'You're gonna be late' said the gentle man with the sea-eyes, carrying the infant.

'Hmm…'

'Mom, may I invite Sunny home? '

'Yes honey, but she needs to ask her parents for permission first'

Emily sighted her with envy. Not only Jessy could dream, she also had friends. She was starting to piss off so she decided to leave the table without even touching her breakfast.

Her dad side-hugged her and kissed her in the head. Maybe his dad was the only person in the world that really understood her.

She walked to the front yard and waited for the bus, taking the lunch-bag her mom had prepared for her before leave. Her messy hair moved with the air and her bag pack was heavy as a bag of rocks so she put it on the ground while the bus arrived.

Going to school wasn't her favorite thing in the world, but she had to go whether she wanted it or not.

Few kids came to wait to the same corner where she was but none of them had the intention to talk to her. She wasn't a 'freaky' or 'Emo' but she didn't interact with the other kids at school.

Emily put her bag on her shoulder watching the yellow mass that was the school bus, getting closer to the mass of children.

She got her inside of the bus and took the first free-sit that she found. Staring at the window, with a lost sight trying not to remember the old days when she had friends and everything seemed happier than then.

It took teen minutes for the bus to arrive school. As she was used, Emily waited for the rest of the students to get out of the bus and walked calmly through the yard to get finally to her chemistry class. She took the sit that was in one of the corners of the back of the room and sited there wishing that no one  come to talk to her.

Taking her books out and a pen, she directed her eyes to the board and saw Ms. Raven already writing something there.

'Sarah Cloud, Wisconsin.'

Emily didn't get it until she saw the beautiful girl two steps behind Ms. Raven. Pale white skin, curly long black hair and beautiful blue eyes, almost gray.

'Okay kids, she's Sarah, she'll be your classmate now on, so take care of her and treat her like one of the family, 'kay?' She turned to the new kid and whispered low on her ear 'you can take any empty seat you want honey, your books are already inside'

'Yes Ms. Raven!' singed a Corus of kids at the time, welcoming the new student as she passed through the sits to take a place in what had becoming her new classroom.

Since school had just begun a week before, there still were kids coming from vacations a little late.

Emily thought that it was because of irresponsible parents that had already procreated irresponsible child in an irresponsible environment what make the homework and the class tough, because if there was a lack of interest in the class, then they must have interest on the class subject later at home and if some student didn't got the idea of the subject, then they have to see the subject again, making school life a lot boring and slow.

The new Kid, Sarah, took a place two sits in front of Emily's seat. She didn't mind it, after all, it wasn't like if the new kid would go sit with her and start to be friends for ever and ever and got stick together for the rest of the school life or even more.

Emily was staring at a blind spot on the board when she felt something. It was more like the feeling you get when someone is watching you. She tried to find the Origen of that feeling in a discrete way, but the voice of Ms. Raven caught her attention.

'Sarah, I know you are new, but please, try to focus on the class, 'kay?'The old woman grinned to her and then turned to the side of the board to write some stuff on it.

By the time Emily got her eye out of the teacher she saw the new girl staring at her.
Blue-gray eyes meet with her browny and she didn't know if to feel stalked-angry or if just pretend it has never happened.

She optioned for the second one and with a blush on her cheeks and turn around to look somewhere else still with the feeling of being watched.

By the lunch time, Emily had already took her usual place at the last table of the cafeteria and was eating slowly the peanut butter and jelly sandwich that her mom had prepare for her.  She was staring at the window watching the birds fly with a nostalgic sight when suddenly unfamiliar voices scare her.

'Hey, you' the Blue-gray eyes were straight at hers.

'H-hi' she answered trying to pass the piece of sandwich that was already on her mouth.

'I know you, you are the dreamless girl.' – Sarah grinned.

'Hmp. That's none of your business.'-Emily replied. The thoughts of being friends with the new girl that she had a in the morning vanished with her 'introduction argument'.

'Hey, easy there. I'm not here to cause problems. Indeed, I came here to … fix… them'

'Don't know what you are talking about' She wasn't stupid. Everyone tough that she was a crazy girl because of the importance the dreams have for her. 'I don't need your help.'

She prepared to leave, grabbing her things when Sarah's hand stopped her from moving her lunch bag.

'Then call me when you get your package.' A wicked grin on her face and two seconds after she was walking to the exit without even thinking on eat something before next class.

Emily was speechless... just… what the eff had that girl on mind? She had come from God-knows-where to make her life miserably. What kind of people does that? Surely she was a relative of someone at school that chatted a lot with her and told her about what she was going through and the girl was so impressed about her story that she will cry and make her parents move to the town to that specific school and with lots of lucky, randomly entered to the same class that her. It was horrible, and thought Emily knew she was being a bit paranoid, she couldn't help it. There still was a possibility that it could happen.

With that in mind, Emily walked to her next class and took the farthest place she could, without being noticed.

Science hour passed slowly as Emily tried to pay attention to the class with tired eyes, nodding form time to time sleepily. She closed her eyes for a second and the next time they opened she saw that girl. The new girl.

-You wanna play? – Her blue eyes sparkled with madness as she smirked. Suddently, Emily started to breath hard, feeling like the air on her lungs wasn't enough anymore, starting to see all black, impossible to fight against something that she couldn't see, until…

-NO!

-NO!

Her eyes opened sharply as she breathed difficulty. 'Had it been a dream?' she thought. 'I felt like something fake, but… at the time, it felt so real, just like a nightmare….'

The girl cleaned the sweat on her forehead with the sleeve of her sweater and calmed herself before someone noticed her on that 'state'; fortunately, the bell rang three minutes earlier so everyone ran out of the room as fast as they could and left her alone. She took her things and without a word to the teacher she left the room too.

It was 3:40 pm. when she arrived home. She was not in the mood to take the bus, so she went walking by herself with the bag full of rocks hanging from her back. It was a long way, but she needed it and she did it.

Sweating and tired with her back and shoulders hurting she was finally at home, entering from the kitchen's back door.

-I know I have no reasons to be late mom, but I needed a walk. – She replied to the imaginary question that her mom has made for trying to scare her.

She stopped on the entrance of the house taking off her shoes without answer.

-Mom?

Walking through the kitchen, examining the room, she found a note from her mom:

---------------
Honey, I'm going to a meeting at your sister's school, I'm taking Bryan and Jess with me. There's some food on the fridge, Love you babe.

Ps: there's a package for you on the table.
¬¬

Love u, Mom.
----------------

It wasn't unusual that sometimes Emily got the house all for herself, but this time the word 'Package' has got all her attention. With eagle eyes she registered all the room, searching for the precious package that someone had send to her,
She found in on the table as her mom had said, it was a small box half the size of a Barbie box. It has a brown paper and a white stick with her name on it.

_______________
'Emily Tales
Rainbow street #483
Col. Jason T.'
_______________

She opened quickly with a sparkle on her eyes the stick with her address, thinking for a moment. There was something odd with it.
There was no sender…

She looked around the box for a name, but there wasn't. Then, suddenly she remembered Sarah's words.

'Call me when you get your pacage' …

Emily shocked. How did she know about the package? … Was it hers? ... Why would she send her something like that? ...

She was thinking about the probabilities that it was actually hers, but it was like one in a million, so she could not be so sure.

Five minutes passed with Emily trying to figurate out what to do, to open the box or not.

Her curiosity was so; she couldn't handle it and decided to open it. Doing it slowly and bewaring of what the content might be.

The piece of paper involving the little box felt to the floor letting exposed a red naked box with a division in the middle that opened it. Emily doubted again for three seconds before she really opened the box.

Slowly, afraid of an explosion, she opened the box with her eyes half closed.
Inside the box was a small piece of jewelry. A silver necklace with a crystal cloud at the end. It was a small but beautiful crystal. It was transparent as the air Emily breathed every day and it gave her a sensation that she hadn't feel in a year. It was a weird feeling, a mixture between hope, happiness and nostalgia.

-'Pretty, isn't it?'

Emily opened her eyes scared of the voice that came from nowhere. She turned around and saw the, now usual, gray-blue eyes of Sarah.

-'I told you to call me when you got the package' - She pointed staring at the box. –

I knew you were not going to call me, so I just came here… And I knew you were gonna like it.

-What are you doing here?

-I gave you the necklace.

-You? Why? I mean, I don't even know you. We just meet today.

-You requested it.

-What? You mean the internet stuff? I thought it was a joke!

Emily freaked out. There was no way that Sarah knew what she was doing on the internet. It was very strange. She was a completely stranger.

-You see, nothing is as it seems. – Sarah grinned. - So, you ready for the dreams? – She blinked an eye to her and then sat on the table.

-What do you mean?

-You requested me because you haven't dream in more than a year. That's why I'm here.

Sarah explained Emily how the necklace worked and told her to wear it all the time.

It wasn't necessary to wear it for Emily to dream, just to have it near, but if she wanted to never stop dreaming again she needed to wear it always.

A short grin at the necklace and then she vanished and at the moment that she left, Emily's mother entered to the room with Jess and Bryan.

-Hi honey, we're early. Did you eat something?

She didn't answer. Emily was blanked. She was happy but at the same time she was worried. Sarah had told her that if she used the necklace she would start dreaming again. Still doubting, she sat at the table with her family and did the same routine as always until it was time to go to bed.

She was ready to go to bed.

'It's not obligatory to wear the necklace' she thought 'I will let it near instead. Just in case…' she said to herself half worried.

Emily put the necklet on the little furniture next to her bed and turned off the light nervous for her first dream in more than a year.
